An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an enthusiastic Paediatric and Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Echocardiography Department. This post would suit a Paediatric and ACHD Echocardiographer who is looking to enhance their knowledge in this highly specialist cardiothoracic unit. Although previous paediatric and ACHD experience is desirable, for a motivated and experienced BSE accredited echocardiographer this may be the ideal role to develop skills and experience in paediatric and ACHD echocardiography with in post support provided by current echocardiographers and supportive paediatric/ACHD consultant cardiologists.

Paediatric echocardiograms are performed and reported in a dedicated Children’s Outpatient Department along with ward and intensive care echocardiography provision. Our echocardiography rooms are specially set up with TV/DVD’s/projectors/toys to enhance the child’s experience of the test. We undertake echocardiograms for a variety of reasons, ranging from simple innocent murmurs to complex single ventricle physiology. We provide pre-operative and post-operative studies. Inpatients can be supported with ventricular assist devices, extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) or can be pre or post heart transplant.

ACHD echocardiography is also provided in the outpatient/inpatient and intensive care environments. Our ACHD patient population would also provide the successful applicant with experience in a large variety of conditions. We are one of the few centres in the UK to transplant patients with complex adult congenital heart disease.

We have an enthusiastic and approachable team of consultant paediatric and ACHD cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, specialist nurses, clinic/ward staff, allied health professionals and work as part of a highly experienced multi-disciplinary team.
