Lead Infection Prevention and Control Nurse

Band 8A - £45,753 - £51,688

Royal Papworth Hospital is looking for a highly motivated dynamic registered nurse/practitioner, with experience in infection prevention and control, to lead the Infection Prevention and Control Team. The hospital is one of the largest specialist cardiothoracic hospitals in Europe and has an extraordinary commitment to delivering the highest levels of clinical quality and providing the best possible standards of personalised care to its patients.

You will be accountable for the operational and clinical delivery of the infection prevention and control service within Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and leading an effective and dynamic infection prevention and control team. Royal Papworth Hospital has been located on the Cambridge Biomedical campus since May 2019 and was built with infection control in mind.

You will be expected to provide expert clinical advice and leadership for the infection prevention and control service, to support the Director of Infection Prevention and Control and engage with the provision of clinical services across the Trust in order to reduce the risk to patients of acquiring health care associated infections.

The role requires you to work closely with the Microbiologists, Infection Control Doctor and other clinicians, including the Link Practitioners for Infection Control. In addition, you will be required to assure the Director of Infection Prevention and Control, and Clinical Services that the necessary actions are in place to meet the requirements of the Health and Social Care Act and the Care Quality Commission. This role will have a Senior Nurse Site Management commitment and will require some out of hours working.
