The pharmacy department at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are seeking to appoint motivated and dynamic pharmacists to provide medicines optimisation services to our Emergency Department.

Alongside consultant colleagues and nursing staff, you must have a strong desire to help manage direct patient care as a prescriber who can see, treat and with appropriate skills / knowledge, discharge patients.

Acquiring key skills and knowledge as you progress will allow you to support effective change in systems and processes related to safety in the use of medicines in the ED.

You will need to be inspirational and determined in your approach and be able to influence healthcare professionals outside of traditional pharmacy boundaries. We can offer you the opportunity to succeed in providing the highest standards of care for patients, developing your own professional career whilst also expanding your potential development towards a leadership role.

Directly accountable to a Professional Development and Clinical Assurance Pharmacist you will help shape services and standards, driving improvements and supporting delivery of targets.

You will be an exisiting non medical prescriber, have a good background in clinical pharmacy and will use your skills already acquired to deliver high quality care to our patients.

We are also developing a service within Leigh Minor Injuries Unit - post holders may be asked to work their on rotation in future to ensure WWL Urgent Care facilities have staff that can work flexibly to meet service demand.

The pharmacy department is fully modernised and we have an integrated electronic health record / electronic prescribing system. All Pharmacists are expected to work very closely with a well-established team of medicines management technicians and assistants to ensure our services are safe, effective and caring.
