We are looking to recruit enthusiastic, motivated, responsible individuals to join the pharmacy team and be an integral part of our 7 day service.

We are a busy department covering a diverse range of activities and functions including: dispensary, logistics, quality control, manufacture and preparation of medicines and products including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition, clinical trials, ward based/clinical activities, medicines information and community services.

The successful candidates will work with our Logistics and Dispensary teams providing pharmacy services including: dispensing and reception in the Dispensary, Distribution and Stores, portering (transportation of stock medicines and fluids to the wards and clinics), procurement and administration, dependent on service needs. They will also support our ward based team by providing a stock top-up service on designated ward/s and may work in our Quality Control area or Chemotherapy Preparation unit as defined by Management.

On the job training will be given and departmental competencies will also be undertaken.

Successful applicants must have at least 2 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above (Grades 5 – 9 for new GCSEs), including Maths and English. It is desirable that candidates have undertaken and passed either the full Level 2 Certificate (NVQ) in Pharmacy Service Skills (QCF) or unit accreditation (or equivalent approved by the GPhC), or be willing to undertake the required Level 2 training. They must be numerate and literate to Level 1.

Numeracy and Literacy testing will be part of the interview process.

The successful applicants must therefore be willing and able to be flexible and react positively to change to work in the different areas of pharmacy advised by management, have an eye for detail and have good teamwork and interpersonal skills. They must also be able to follow written procedures, work under supervision and complete tasks accurately to set deadlines. They must be able to move and handle stock and provide portering services.
