Medicine and Elderly Care Therapy Technical Assistant

Hours: 37.5 per week plus weekend working

Band: 4

Base: St Peter’s

 

An opportunity has arisen for a Therapy Technical Assistant to join our dynamic, friendly and supportive team of physiotherapists and occupational therapists working across the Senior Adult Medical Services and Medical wards

This is a full time permanent position initially working Monday to Friday with weekend overtime, progressing to a 7 day working pattern as the service changes. This includes contributing to bank holiday cover.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated person with physiotherapy or occupational therapy assistant experience, good communication skills and the ability to work with people as part of a multidisciplinary team. The therapy team treat a wide variety of medical conditions such as parkinsons, frailty syndrome, dementia, liver failure and other general medical conditions. You must enjoy working with elderly patients as well as younger groups.

You will have your own patient caseload, delegated by qualified clinicians, with whom you will be able to assess, treat and discharge within your scope of practice. You will also assist clinicians with joint assessment and rehabilitation sessions.

Non-clinical duties will include; cleaning and maintenance of therapy equipment and treatment areas, and stock maintenance. There will also be general administration jobs. You will be supported to develop your clinical skills through formal supervision and appraisal. You will be expected to contribute to regular meetings and training within the team and department. You will be encouraged to contribute to ongoing service improvement projects.
