Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist - Early Years (EY) Clinical Lead (job share) and Speech and Language Setting Support (SALSS).

EY Clinical Lead - working in partnership with a colleague leading and supporting our EY team working in clinics, this post contributes to the leadership role within the locality's EY team. The role incudes sharing responsibility for:

  • Supervising and supporting staff working in a range of EY settings, including appraisal and second opinions
  • Contributing to projects, data collection and strategic developments as part of the countywide and local EY pathway
  • Contributing to the West Sussex Children's SLT Service Improvement Plan in collaboration with the service's professional lead and the locality clinical service managers
  • Delivering training to SLT staff as part of continuing professional development and to the wider workforce including health and education professionals
  • Working closely with managers and colleagues to maintain the cohesion of the team and adhere to SCFT's vision and values

SALSS - as a member of this small and highly experienced countywide team you will have responsibility for providing training and advice on speech, language and communication to a range of preschool settings in SCFT's coastal locality.

The successful candidate will need:

  • Extensive knowledge and skills across a range of speech, language and communication needs
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • An excellent track record of delivering training
  • Exceptional time management and organisational skills
  • Innovative thinking around learning styles and different delivery media
  • Good working knowledge of the EY Foundation Stage curriculum
  • The knowledge and skills to integrate speech and language interventions into everyday practice within EY settings
