A number of vacancies have arisen for the position of Biomedical Assistant in the busy Reception & Data Input areas of the combined Haematology and Biochemistry departments (Blood Sciences) within Pathology at University Hospitals of Leicester.

Providing support for the smooth running of the laboratory, your duties will include:

- Receipt of Pathology samples prior to analysis

- Inputting of data from patient request forms onto the system

- Dealing with patient result enquiries via the telephone

- The post will also involve a number of general housekeeping duties

- An element of manual dexterity is also required

The pathology service operates on a 24/7 basis, and therefore shifts are arranged during these times, including weekends, evenings and nights.

The successful applicant will be educated to GCSE level, have an excellent telephone manner and possess good keyboard skills with previous experience involving a keen attention to detail.

Highly organised and conscientious, you have the ability to plan and organize your own work, and to adapt flexibly when circumstances change. A dedicated team member, you will bring a pleasant and helpful approach both face-to-face and on the telephone. In return for your commitment, you will receive all the training you need to carry out these duties.
