Consultant in Palliative Medicine

We are seeking to recruit a Consultant in Palliative Medicine, to join the specialist palliative care team in North Wales.

 

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) is the largest health organisation in Wales, providing a full range of services for a population of around 676,000 people across North Wales. This post adds to our current team of Consultants across three sites and, in conjunction with existing posts, will allow innovative and enhanced services to be delivered. The current clinical team are keen to attract a dynamic and enthusiastic colleague, and, with this in mind, flexible opportunities to work within hospice and statutory settings may be available, depending on the preferred interests and expertise of the applicant.

 

The Department of Palliative Care in North Wales comprises of three statutory sector specialist palliative care teams with an active Hospice at Home service in Wrexham, that together provide specialist palliative care in the acute hospital, out-patient and community settings. There are close links with the three local hospices, Bangor University, oncology and primary care services. The service provides care for cancer and an increasing number of non cancer conditions.

 

The nursing teams provide a seven day service in both community and acute hospital settings. This is supported by the regional palliative medicine specialist 24 hour advice line, for which the post holder would provide telephone advice within a 1 in 8 rota.
