The Therapy Service within University Hospitals of Leicester, are delighted to be able to offer an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Oncology and Haematology therapy team. This post is a fulltime, band 7 post ( consideration will be given to a minimum of 30 hours and a maximum of 37.5 hours per week) supported by the Macmillan Charity.

The Oncology and Haematology Therapy team, give highly specialised therapy input to patients within the acute Oncology wards, the Haematology ward, the Bone Marrow Transplant unit, and the Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Unit. These clinical areas are all based at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

The UHL Therapy service is passionate about patient care, and strive to continuously improve that care by encouraging staff training, education and development. All therapy teams have regular in-service training, all staff have regular clinical supervision and 1:1 meetings and participate in the Trust appraisal process.

Being a Macmillan Therapist, gives the added benefit of access to additional professional education and training each year.

This post is Monday - Sunday, participating in weekend working on a roster, with compensatory time taken back during the working week.

The successful candidate will be expected to work alongside the Macmillan Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist, providing a responsive, highly specialised service for patients , providing treatment, early rehabilitation and safe discharge planning for this complex patient group. You will be expected to work as part of the multidisciplinary team in order to achieve high quality input and safe and effective throughput for patients within the unit.
