Due to an internal promotion we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and self- motivated pharmacist to join our existing patient- focused team of Specialist Pharmacists. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a wealth of clinical experience at Band 6 level who are ready to take the next step in their career within the Directorate of Medicine.

About the role:

This cross-site rotational post will give you the opportunity to gain experience in a wide variety of specialist clinical areas in the Directorate of Medicine. Our 6-12 month rotations will give you the opportunity to develop your clinical and leadership skills in a friendly, structured environment supported by a team of advanced specialist pharmacists – this includes full support in completing and utilising the independent prescribing qualification. The department has strong links with Newcastle University School of Pharmacy, providing opportunity to develop clinical audit and research skills, and actively encourages all pharmacy staff to continue to develop professionally throughout their career. You will act as a role model to foundation pharmacists and technicians and support their continuing professional development.

You will have excellent prioritisation, communication, and organisational skills, and be able to demonstrate commitment to enhancing the quality of patient care in the acute and general medicine setting.

About the team:

The Directorate of Medicine includes a wide range of clinical specialities including acute and emergency care, older people’s medicine, gastroenterology, respiratory, endocrinology, stroke, hepatology and infectious diseases. The clinical pharmacy team is well established and includes advanced specialist pharmacists, specialist pharmacists, foundation pharmacists, pre-registration pharmacists and clinical technicians. Our pharmacists are an integral part of the multi-disciplinary teams, and we also work collaboratively with other clinical services outside of the Medicine Directorate including the Integrated Community Clinical Pharmacy Team. The contributions that we make to improve patient care are highly valued by the Directorate, but we are constantly striving to enhance the quality of the Clinical Pharmacy Services our patients depend on.
