Clinical Fellow – Genomic Medicine (Education)

Join the North Thames Laboratory Hub and help us to create a new genomic medicine service for the NHS – transforming the way people are cared for.

Are you an interested in helping to transform clinical care through the delivery of genomic medicine education?

We are seeking to appoint a doctor, trained to registrar level, with a keen interest in education and training, and ideally a good basic knowledge of genetics.

This post could allow you opportunities to develop your CV for a fellowship application or incorporate a higher degree if desired, or be an ideal way to gain experience prior to applying for training for a career in clinical genetics. Equally you may already have a higher degree and are now seeking experience in genomics to further your career. These posts are funded for up to a year in the first instance.

You will be a key part of the translational research team of the North Thames GLH and Genomic Medicine Centre and will have the opportunity to spend one day a week gaining experience in clinical genomics, attending clinics or learning variant interpretation. You may also have the opportunity to provide support to ongoing 100,000 Genome legacy projects if needed.

The post holder will be encouraged to develop interests in a particular specialty area and pursue a small research project related to this area.

This post could also be particularly useful for candidates coming to the end of their specialist training who might want a year of experience in genomic medicine.
