We are a provider for Mental health, intellectual disability and specialist mental health services, community physical health for adults and children, prison health and our low, medium and high secure hospitals including Rampton Hospital.

Job Title: Trainee Nursing Associate Apprenticeship

Start date: September 2020

Contract: Fixed term at band 3 with employment at band 4 on completion of the course, end point assessment and registration with the NMC

Band: 3 (Agenda for Change)

No of Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Part time (30hrs+) applications considered)


Trainee Nursing Associate Apprentice (band 3) whilst training, leading to be a Nursing Associate registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) (band 4) on completion of the course


We are seeking to recruit Trainee Nursing Associate Apprentices to work and train within Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, both our Forensic and Local Partnership Divisions, starting in September 2020.


This is a generic programme where you will cover all four fields of Nursing; Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, Adult and Child, covering areas including close to home, hospital setting and patients homes.

You will work as a Trainee Nursing Associate Apprentice and undertake one day per week to study for a level 5 fully funded Foundation Degree at the University of Derby. This programme will also require self-directed study and you will travel to placements around Nottinghamshire when not working in your base area, and therefore the ability to travel around the county is essential.


This degree will lead to you becoming a registered Nursing Associate. You will be registered and accountable to the NMC and have the potential to develop your career further as a Registered Nurse. We are looking for individuals who have a minimum 6 months relevant clinical healthcare experience, a strong value base and a passion to care and support others. We would like you to use and transfer the skills you already have and be willing to develop your understanding of all four fields of nursing including mental health recovery, community Integrated teams and social care settings. Applicants must demonstrate their capacity for compassion and care and an ambition for their own career.


The Trainee Nursing Associate role will appeal to those with personal ambition to embrace this new Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) regulated role and with equal commitment given to patient care and personal development. You will receive support in your academic journey from a Trust clinical educator, work-based supervisor and academic support from the University of Derby.


To apply you will need to fulfil the minimum academic requirement of qualifications at level 2 in English and Maths with certificates, as detailed in the person specification and have obtained or be working towards your National Care Certificate.

As part of the recruitment process, all relevant academic certificates which are required for this post (Maths, English and Level 3 if applicable) are required to be shown at interview. Current internal applicants will also be required to obtain management sign off if successfully shortlisted for interview.


Interviews are planned to take place in April/May 2020. These will take place at one of the University of Derby sites in Derby or Chesterfield. We anticipate you will join our Trust Induction from September 2020 if successful.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship
