Chief Operating Officer, North East and West (NEW) London Genomic Laboratory Hub

We are looking to recruit a talented professional to manage the transformation of genetic services for a number of NHS Trusts across North, East and West London and parts of Essex and Hertfordshire.

NHS England has reconfigured genomic services to consolidate laboratories into seven Genomic Laboratory Hubs (GLH). The NEW London GLH is a partnership led by Great Ormond Street NHS Foundation Trust with partners including Barts Health, Imperial College Hospital and its partner laboratory North West London Pathology, the Royal Marsden Hospital, UCLH NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Free Hospital with its partner laboratory Health Services Laboratory, and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.

The successful candidate will be a highly competent manager to support us through the reconfiguration of genetic services which will involve merging several laboratories onto two main sites, changing care pathways and working to embed genomic medicine into clinical care. You will be based at GOSH but be able to work across the geography to manage the consolidation of rare disease testing on the GOSH site and cancer molecular testing to the NEW London Laboratory at the Royal Marsden.

You will need to be enthusiastic and driven, with the willingness to go the extra mile to achieve what is required for our patients and our services. You will have demonstrable and credible experience of senior operational management roles ideally in the health sector. With excellent communication skills you will need to be able to establish your credibility at all levels internally and externally, and be able to quickly build relationships within your own team and the wider organisation. Both a flexible ‘can do’ attitude and a strong focus on delivery are essential.
