Band 4 CCN Support Worker

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Support Worker within our CCN team, which consists of Specialist Children’s Nurses and is part of the wider team of children’s nursing including Special School Nurses, Health Care Assistants and administration staff. The CCN team works with children/ young people and their families to support them within the community environment.

Working as an integrated member of the CCN team as a support worker you will be working within Mary Rose Academy under the direction of the Special School Nurse with an identified caseload of children and young people to provide care. This may at times include delivering care in the community/home setting.

The role will include supporting children, young people and families with Long term conditions, disabilities, complex health conditions, continuing care needs, life limiting, life-threatening illness, including palliative and end of life care needs.

You will deliver specialised delegable clinical tasks related to children’s complex care needs such as enteral feeding, respiratory care and medicines administration. The role will include working closely with and signposting to the multi-disciplinary team and external agencies or other resources to support the holistic needs of the children, young people and their families. You will be provided with comprehensive, in-house training to ensure that the right health care competencies are acquired in order to support children with complex health needs.

Peer support, clinical supervision and regular line management will be available. You would need to have good organisational skills, problem solving skills and be able to quickly gain a good rapport with the children and families you will be working with.

The essential qualities we are looking for in our support worker applicants are:

  • Educated to Foundation Degree level or willingness to undertake
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently
  • Experience of working with children and young people with complex needs
  • Car driver/owner
