We are seeking an enthusiastic Band 5 General Registered Nurse or Registered Children's Nurse to join our well established patient-focused Regional Clinical Genetics Service, based at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust's City Hospital Campus.


We provide outpatient services across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire. The role will predominately involve gathering family history information from families by telephone in a sensitive and caring manner to facilitate their genetic counselling assessment. This may include follow-up tasks around arranging blood tests, obtaining consent and contacting other professionals for further information.


The post-holder will be expected to work closely alongside our multidisciplinary team to assist in running our clinics in an effective and time-sensitive manner, and also to contribute to good governance, including auditing and maintenance of resuscitation equipment.


Although the majority of patient work is phone-based, they will also assist in co-coordinating the National Ataxia Telangiectasia clinic at Nottingham.


This is an 18 month fixed term post initially, with plans to make it a substantive post after this time period, subject to required funding. The post holder will be predominately based at the City Hospital Campus. The Clinical Genetics Service operates Monday to Friday from 09:00 - 17:00 hrs.

    • Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incurs a cost dependent on the level of check required (£49 for enhanced and £31 for standard). I agree to reimburse NUH NHS Trust the cost of a DBS check if it is required (by deduction from first month’s pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse NUH NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
