NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) provide vital services to the NHS, improving patient outcomes and saving lives. We have a fantastic opportunity for you to become part of our essential work by joining our National Referral Centre for Tissue Donation.

You will be working with the NRC team and be responsible for the tissue donation after death programme activity within the National Referral Centre, and to manage the Referral Centre in the absence of the NRC Matron and the Deputy NRC Manager. This will include being involved in the development and implementation of strategies in conjunction with the NRC Matron to expand the donation programme, training and clinical standards.

You will be a member of the National Tissue Donation Team and to be recognised as a clinical expert for advice and education nationally.

The National Referral centre deals with over 12000 referrals for tissue donation from deceased donors and also approximately 3600 donations from living donors.

You will be an experienced, registered adult nurse with current general NMC registration (RNA or RN1). In-house full training will be given. However, success in this role will depend on excellent communication skills, agile thinking and being able to develop and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

As well as your nursing registration, you will have a relevant degree or equivalent experience. In addition, you should have experience of mentoring, teaching and leadership

You will be required to work 17.5 hours per week, shift work will be between the hours of 07:00 – 21:00. Evening, weekend and bank holiday working will also be required – we are open 365 days a year.

Secondments will be considered for internal staff wishing to apply for this role.
