Senior Genomics Technician Band 6

The Genomics Research Platform uses cutting edge technologies to enable fast tracking of research into clinics. We are seeking to appoint a Senior Genomics Technician to support our services and R&D. The role calls for a detail oriented and highly motivated individual with excellent molecular skills, familiar with Genomics workflows and platforms.

The post requires experience in a Genomics service provision lab, demonstrable experience in manual or automated library preparation for next generation sequencing and experience in using equipment required for such workflows. The post holder will also be comfortable with receiving training under close supervision and capable of following SOPs in a word or worksheet format with attention to detail. Training will be provided on Genomics lab workflows, liquid handling systems and sequencers in use in the Genomics Research Platform. After training, you will be expected to process service projects independently by following SOPs for automated library preparations, sequencer operation. The post holder will be required to conduct R&D, develop new protocols and provide training to new clients on equipment use when required. You will have good comprehension of service operations and must be able to deliver on a wide range of projects to pre-agreed timelines. This post involves service as well as R&D library preparations and will involve sequencing optimization on new sequencers or workflow optimization on new platforms. Focus and attention to detail is expected in all aspects along with an ability to manage & prioritize a diverse workload. Experience in conducting microarray workflows is desirable. Knowledge of data analysis on Genome studio, Partek and other programs for QC of microarray and sequenced data is desirable. Working within a multidisciplinary environment with staff at many levels, you will need good organizational and interpersonal skills.

Successful candidates will have an interest in training, learning, developing and optimizing molecular workflows for the latest technologies. The ability to work proactively without direct supervision is essential.
