Trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner Gastroenterology Emergency Ambulatory Care

Based at Leicester Royal Infirmary

Band 6 progressing to a band 8A on completion of defined competencies and masters level advanced practice programme.

We have an exciting opportunity for a caring and compassionate nurse who wants to work in emergency Gastroenterolgy, providing excellent quality care for gastroenterology patients who can be managed and treated potentially in an ambulatory care area.

The Gastroenterology team cover ward 42 and ward 43 both 28 bedded areas at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. This post will support a new initiative to provide ambulatory care to some of our gastroenterology and hepatology patients either planned or emergency within the ward area.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic nurse with excellent communication skills to join our team. This post will lead and develop current and new services and ways of working as our gastroenterology team grasp this opportunity to influence, shape and develop the changing face of Acute Gastroenterology care and service provision.

We expect to recruit a positive, forward thinking individual who is motivated and can motivate others, work under pressure and manage the needs of ambulatory gastroenterology & Hepatology patients. You must be able to demonstrate significant clinical experience in caring for gastroenterology/hepatology patients. You must be prepared to continue to develop your expertise and support others in their learning and development.

You must possess the ability to work as part of the multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively across a range of health professional settings and boundaries. You will be expected to undertake history taking and clinical examination skills modules and non-medical prescribing followed by other modules to complete a masters degree in advanced practice. We will provide the successful candidate with access to clearly defined mentors/supervisors and support continuing professional development through yearly appraisal. If you have the drive to provide an excellent patient experience and an enthusiasm for personal and service development within a clinical setting we are waiting to hear from you.
