Senior Biomedical Scientist

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our Red Cell immunohaematology (RCI) Department. Our laboratory provides complex diagnostic and blood donation selection activities to hospital transfusion laboratories across the NHS.


You’ll join our friendly team and play an important role performing, analysing, interpreting, documenting and reporting specialist/complex investigations in the RCI laboratory. You will also supervise colleagues in the laboratory and take a leading role in the development and maintenance of scientific and technical expertise We will provide you with extensive induction and training and ongoing support in this role to develop your specialist skills and scientific education. Our focus is on using scientific skills and knowledge to solve problems in a service which is in great demand.

As a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with relevant post registration experience, you will have an MSc, FIBMS or equivalent in transfusion / transplantation or relevant science or postgraduate qualification e.g. IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma and relevant experience.


Working within a laboratory that promotes the highest standards, you will work 18.75 hours per week, the working pattern for achieving these hours will be discussed at interview and agreed with the successful candidate at the time of the job offer. In addition to this you will also be expected to participate on the on-call rota.


This role will attract an outer London High Cost Area Supplement (HCAS) of 15% basic salary of £4,743 per annum pro rata.
