The NHS Blood and Transplant is an integral part of the NHS. Operating a network of centres across England and North Wales, we collect around 2 million units of blood and tissues a year, converting them into safe and effective blood components, blood and tissue products for use in the treatments of patients.

You will handle a wide range of tasks, including the processing and issuing of blood donations and monitoring of storage equipment. You will have responsibility for ensuring that any incoming blood supplies are properly received and accounted for. In addition 50% of your time will be performing general administration tasks for the department and using Microsoft office applications.

To be considered you’ll need an A level or NVQ level 3 or equivalent, or extensive experience working in a logistics/supply chain environment, or of working within an NHSBT or hospital laboratory. Flexible in your approach and a good team player, you must be able to keep clear, accurate records.

This post will be based at Leeds Blood Centre, Bridle Path, however in Summer 2020, we will be relocating to a purpose built, state of the art premises, which is situated just off Junction 37 of the M1.

 

The normal working hours for this role are 37.5 hours per week. This vacancy is on a fixed term basis for 12 months. Secondments will be considered for current NHSBT staff, please discuss this with your current line manager before applying.

 

There are two opportunities available with the following shifts:

  1. Rotational Shifts (see attached rota)
  2. Day Shift
