Biomedical Assistant (BMA) Clinical Microbiology laboratory

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals for the position of Biomedical Assistant (BMA – Band 2) in Microbiology. You will be working in Virology within the Department of Clinical Microbiology Laboratory based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, UHL NHS Trust; one of the largest teaching hospitals in England. The department is UKAS accredited.

We have a requirement for a person to assist in the smooth delivery and administration of the daily technical work of the virology department

Our aim is to find a hardworking, conscientious and well organized individual to perform housekeeping duties and contribute to general laboratory work. This involves registration, receipt, preparation and processing of clinical, microbiological specimens, computer data entry, equipment maintenance, some office duties and stock control, etc. Prior microbiology laboratory or data entry/office experience would be an advantage; however, full training will be given. The post will involve some light manual handling duties

Applicants must have good attention to detail, a willingness to learn, effective communication skills, an ability to prioritise work and demonstrate a desire to contribute towards developing our services.
