The Microbiology Services Laboratory provides a centralised and diverse microbiological service that is essential to the operation of NHSBT. This vacancy is based in the bacteriology laboratory which is at the forefront of scientific research with a progressive approach and close links with Public Health England (PHE), universities and international biomedical companies.

 

In this role you’ll perform, analyse and interpret a wide range of specialist/complex bacteriological investigations relating to the issue of results for blood components and tissue products. Conducting automated and manual investigations, the post holder will undertake the analysis and collation of data and results, the computer entry of results, and maintenance of laboratory quality systems.

 

We’re looking for a motivated individual with HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist with relevant post graduate training in bacteriology and bacterial identification. You will have the ability to work to a high degree of accuracy and precision and be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team in an environment of changing pressures and practices. Saturday working will be required on a rotational basis

The normal working hours for this role are 37.5 hours a week Monday – Friday with a start time between 07:00 am and 9:30 am, and finish time between 15:00 pm and 17:30 pm.

 

This role will attract an outer London High Cost Area Supplement (HCAS) of 15% basic salary of £4,743 per annum pro rata.
