The Care Quality Commission has rated us ‘Outstanding’ for the second time in a row.

We are committed to promoting equality and diversity and recognise the benefit in providing an inclusive environment. An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Contracting and Performance Team at Newcastle Hospitals. We are seeking a dynamic and credible individual to play a key role in the Trust’s Performance team on a fixed term basis until 31 October 2020.

This is a high profile, interesting and varied role working across the entire organisation; requiring close working with other corporate teams as well as staff in clinical services to support the overall strategic objectives of the Trust. As such this role will provide the post-holder significant challenge and experience during the fixed term period; this will be helpful to further career progression and applications from corporate and operational candidates are welcomed.

This role is intrinsic to the continuous development of performance management across the organisation. Applicants should have a successful track record at a senior level (preferably within corporate performance, contracting, information or similar), a knowledge of performance management systems and expert computer literacy.

Job Purpose:

  • to provide complex performance information/advice and take a corporate lead with senior officers on corrective action where performance is not being met
  • to work closely with the Senior Business Development Manager to embed a culture of continuous improvement across the whole organisation
  • to ensure that timely, validated and approved performance information is routinely reported to the Board of Directors, Commissioners and NHS regulators

The post-holder will be responsible for supporting the performance review cycle for the Trust, incorporating clinical and support Directorates to ensure that review meetings are organised and accurately recorded and that the Trust Board is made aware of key risks and actions.

As benchmarking is an integral part of the Trust’s Performance Management Framework, the post-holder will ‘champion’ the Clinical Benchmarking System (CHKS) and expand the utilisation within clinical services and corporate teams, providing core training to colleagues across the Trust at various levels of seniority.

Due to the evidenced based nature of the role the post-holder should have excellent analytical and interpretive skills for processing qualitative and quantitative data as well as the ability to present complex information to staff across all levels of the organisation. Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills are required as well as the ability to constructively challenge current practice. The role is fast-paced and can be demanding; the post-holder will be skilled at prioritising their own workload with the ability to change priorities at short notice.

Informal enquires are welcomed by Stephen Lowis, Senior Business Development Manager on 0191 22 31860
