Powys Teaching Health Board as looking for a dynamic individual with a strong public health focus to join their School Nursing team in the Crickhowell/Hay on Wye area. The service is committed to improving the health and well being of the school aged population by providing a proactive, child focused service that can be easily accessed by children, young people and their families. The caseload will include Crickhowell High School and Gwernyfed High School and the post holder will be assisted by a Band 5 school nurse for 30 hours per week.
The Band 6 post holder will need to have undertaken or be undertaking the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing.The ability to work autonomously whilst being part of a larger school nursing team is paramount.
The ability to deal with a varied and challenging caseload aimed at improving outcomes and reducing inequalities is essential. Experience of multi agency, multidisciplinary working across a range of settings is required as are excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

A sound knowledge of safeguarding issues as well as an innovative approach to health promotion and health protection will be required.
