An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Respiratory Physiologist based in the Respiratory Physiology Unit at Glenfield Hospital.

Our service provision encompasses a full range of simple and complex lung function assessments for adults and children as well as cardiovascular function and gastro-intestinal Physiology. The department is one of the largest and most progressive units within the field of Respiratory Physiology.

If you are scientifically minded with appropriate qualifications (please refer to person specification) and work experience, this is an ideal opportunity for you to train and develop within this specialty. This post requires individuals who are enthusiastic, well motivated and possess excellent communication and organisational skills as well as a keen eye for detail, and the ability to accurately record and input information.

The Assistant Respiratory Physiologist will be responsible for performing routine spirometry, blood gases, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and basic sleep studies. They will also be assisting Physiologists and Associate Practitioners in other areas within the department including cardiopulmonary exercise testing. They will also be expected to undertake administrative work and general housekeeping within these clinical areas.

No previous experience is necessary as full training will be given, however, the successful candidate should demonstrate an understanding of the role. Therefore all interested candidates are strongly encouraged to visit the department.
