CONSULTANT RADIOLOGIST (DIAGNOSTIC RADIOLOGY & PAEDIATRIC RADIOLOGY)

Our Radiology Directorate is embedded into the delivery of high quality care within the Trust. We are proud to be accessible to our clinical colleagues and work flexibly to support the needs of the patients from Newcastle and beyond. We offer a huge range of diverse specialist services and applications are invited for the following specialty areas:

Diagnostic Radiology - Applicants are invited to apply for this Diagnostic Radiology post. We have a particular need to support GI/HPB/Urological/Head and Neck imaging. However we would consider any subspecialty interest for the candidate.

Paediatric Radiology – Applications are invited to apply for this Paediatric Radiology post, based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, home of the Great North Children’s Hospital. Opportunities are available to develop further sub-specialist interests including Musculoskeletal, Rheumatological, Chest and Cardiac Imaging, as well as developing procedural paediatric radiological skills.

The successful candidate should have experience in reporting a variety of oncological and body cross-sectional studies and be able to support the delivery of image guided biopsy and drainages. They should have a proven track record in ability to lead radiology at MDT. They should contribute flexibly to support the delivery of the acute radiology service which may involve cross-site commitments.

In addition to the challenges of the role, we can offer you a commitment to teaching, education, research and audit. Candidates for the post must be registered medical practitioners and on, or eligible to join, the Specialist Register within six months of the date of the Appointments Committee. Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recently opened a state of the art Radiology teaching facility using a networked validated case archive to support the nascent Northern Radiology Academy (NRAD).
