Radiology Department Assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Radiology Department Assistant to be based at the Leicester General Hospital within the Radiology department. The post will be based in ultrasound and will include duties such as;

  • Assist with basic clerical and reception duties including using Radiology computer systems
  • Carry out duties involving patient care and welfare. This will include assisting the Radiology team where appropriate
  • To assist patients prior to, during, and after the examination including being able to give the patient a basic explanation of procedures
  • Assist in manual handling in patients as and when required following training
  • Perform basic post procedure monitoring including ECG, Blood pressure measurement, BM sticks
  • Assist in the safe discharge of the patient from the department
  • Ensure accuracy of patient and examination details
  • Assist in the cleaning and preparation of the room prior to and post procedure
  • Liaise with other departments and wards to ensure effective communication
  • Ensure mandatory training is up to date and remain updated with new developments and policies

The successful candidate will need to be able to work at least 1 weekend day per month and assist with bank holiday working. There also may be a need for cross-site working at the Leicester Royal Infirmary and Glenfield.
