The Clinical Decisions Unit at Glenfield Hospital is a 27 bedded, fully monitored ward, with a designated Triage and Assessment area. Unique to other Admission’s Unit nationally, patients are admitted direct via ambulance, Urgent Care Centre, Emergency Department Referral and GP referral with a range of cardiac and respiratory conditions. CDU also takes admissions from within the Trust; CDU is a demanding, but rewarding area to work in.

As a deputy sister/ charge nurse, you will assist the CDU ward manager’s in the leadership and management of approximately 150 members’ of staff. Acting as a role model, you will lead in ensuring safe, compassionate, quality care for all our patients, staff and visitors, and ensure that staff training and developmental needs are met through individual and group teaching, assessment, and support. You will be involved in HR procedures including appraisal, recruitment, and sickness and absence management, ensure that quality and strategic objectives are met, both for the unit and the Trust, and be responsible for the day-to-day running of CDU in the ward manager’s absence.

Ideally you will have experience in an acute admissions/assessment area however it is not essential.

You must hold (or be working towards) a recognized teaching qualification, and have evidence of post-registration continuing development.
