An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, suitably qualified HCPC Registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist to work within our Blood Sciences Department.

Blood Sciences plays a pivotal role in provision of 10 million diagnostic tests per year which are essential for the delivery of high quality clinical care within all Directorates of the Trust and in Primary Care. The Department also acts as a regional and national reference laboratory.

Applicants should be highly motivated and have an accredited degree in Biomedical Sciences and have completed the IBMS Specialist Diploma (or equivalent qualifications). Experience in Haematology and Blood Transfusion or Biochemistry is essential.

The department is UKAS accredited and is housed on two sites across Newcastle. You will rotate through all core sections of the blood sciences laboratory and it is essential that applicants will be able to take part in the out of hours shift system. Movement between the two hospital sites is also a possibility.

You should have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively either as part of a team or independently. The laboratory is progressive and well equipped and is accredited for training, with participation in CPD being actively encouraged.
