We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced pharmacist to join the Pharmacy team in a split role (50:50) as Advanced Specialist Pharmacist for Specialist Surgery and Professional Development.

Professional Development -

Please see attached Job Plan for the Professional Development part of the role. The post holder will support the training and development of band 7 pharmacists to ensure that they have sufficient knowledge, skills and competence to meet the standards required by relevant bodies, UHL, patients and service users. The successful candidate will work with De Montfort University and the University of Leicester to ensure that the clinical visits and medical student training programmes are well organised, facilitated and evaluated. You will also be responsible for helping to manage study leave and courses funded through the professional development budget.

Specialist Surgery -

The successful candidate will be required to work alongside clinicians, nursing staff, allied health care professionals and senior management in order to deliver safe, high quality and cost effective pharmaceutical care to patients within ophthalmology, ENT, plastics and maxillofacial services. This will include medicines optimisation in day case, outpatient and in-patient settings and supporting in the management of drug budgets to these services. You will be required to provide senior operational support to the wider MSS and UGGS clinical pharmacy team and alongside the Lead Pharmacist for MSS&UGGs, support the

development of clinical pharmacy services to these CMGs in line with the Pharmacy Department’s strategic plan.
The role is based across the three main sites within UHL. The post holder will be expected to participate in evening, weekend, bank holiday and on-call duties.

You must be a qualified pharmacist with post-registration experience in pharmacy practice. You will be expected to work both independently and as part of a team, should display enthusiasm and an ability to innovate and must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
