Higher Healthcare Technical Officer

The NHS Blood and Transplant is an integral part of the NHS. Operating a network of centres across England and North Wales, we collect around 2 million units of blood and tissues a year, converting them into safe and effective blood components, blood and tissue products for use in the treatments of patients.

Joining our Hospital Services Department, you’ll take part in a wide range of routine and non-routine tasks, including the validation, storage, issue and distribution of blood and blood components, both to local hospitals and to other NHSBT sites, secondary processing of donations and equipment and resource management. Your attention to detail will be key as you ensure accurate labelling and packaging, plus an effective response to both routine and emergency requests.

To be considered you’ll need an A level or NVQ level 3 or equivalent, or extensive experience working in a logistics/supply chain environment, or of working within an NHSBT or hospital laboratory. Flexible in your approach and a good team player, you must be able to keep clear, accurate records.

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) offers a dynamic and friendly working environment where teamwork is highly valued. Personal development is also considered a priority and is supported through extensive training and development opportunities open to all employees.
