Purchasing Assistant

 

Fixed Term for 6 months (with possible extension)

 

Band 2, Salary Scale £17,460 to £18,702 per annum, Full time 37.5 hours /week

Bristol & Weston NHS Purchasing Consortium provides strategic sourcing services to 3 acute trusts and 2 Community Health providers.

 

With a spend profile of circa £500m, the Consortium is being realigned to drive maximum benefit for its sponsor trusts.

 

The Consortium is progressing a transformation programme to raise the profile of Procurement, increase savings performance and drive operational excellence.

 

Based at Whitefriars Bristol, you will be part of a team driving procurement excellence. With a strong focus on catalogue management involving considerable data analysis and manipulation the duties also include dealing with invoice queries and the processing of requisitions and purchase orders.

 

Responding to customer enquiries in accordance with laid down procedures and assisting with the contracting process when required, including the maintenance of records and the provision of statistical information. To ensure that efficient, effective purchasing and customer service is undertaken to meet the Consortium’s service level requirements to all customers.

 

You must be educated to GCSE standard, computer literate with good keyboard skills and enjoy working as part of a team in an open plan environment. Experience of working in a customer focused environment is essential, with good telephone and communication skills. You must have a desire to identify and implement process improvement, the ability to use your own initiative and work within agreed guidelines. Time management skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages such as Excel and Word are essential.
