Ward 22 is a 26 bedded General Surgery ward specialising Colorectal and Gastro-intestinal surgery at Leicester Royal Infirmary. The area receives elective admissions post operatively as well as transferred the intensive care units.

There are great opportunities to develop both within the two acute bays which cares for the patients with more complex care needs recently discharged from the Intensive care units and care for the patients admitted post elective surgery enabling you to enhance both your assessment and surgical skills.

The successful candidates will ensure high quality care is achieved within a multidisciplinary team where continuous learning and improvement are delivered. You will be supported to develop specialist skills, knowledge and expertise in clinical practice. For newly qualified nurses we offer a comprehensive preceptor ship and induction programme in conjunction with our education team and specialist nursing teams. We welcome applications from candidates who are seeking to gain experience in surgical care.

We also offer bespoke rotational opportunities available between the surgical assessment unit, our inpatient elective GI surgery ward and gastroenterology. These can be arranged dependent upon your wishes and needs.
