We are recruiting Healthcare Assistants with relevant healthcare experience to work flexibly across the Trust on our Bank.

As a Healthcare Assistant you will be appointed to support Registered Nurses in the delivery of direct patient care. The role involves contact on a physical and psychological level with patients and their families. The post holder will undertake a range of activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, having been assessed and deemed competent in the activities requested.

We will support your training by providing access to the following training:

  • Adult Basic Life Support
  • Moving and Handling
  • Mental Capacity Act
  • Infection Control
  • Record Keeping and Care Planning
  • Safeguarding Adults/ Children
  • MAPA (High Risk areas only)
  • Rio

You should be able to demonstrate your experience and be confident in fulfilling the duties required of you. You will work closely with specialist nurses, allied health professionals and other staff under minimal supervision and on your own initiative.

You will receive regular clinical supervision and have the support from our Centralised Staffing Team with the technicalities of working on our bank.

We are able to offer you part-time, weekend, nights, and ad hoc shifts to work in line with your availability, in a variety of areas and locations. We have shifts patterns to suit specific projects that can be long shifts, split shifts, term time only cover et al.

Some roles require the worker to be able to drive, please include details of your driving status in your supporting information.

Please note that all shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a numeracy and literacy assessment as part of the recruitment process, unless you hold certificates of having achieved equivalent qualifications.

All appointable candidates will have to complete a DBS application and obtain a satisfactory result.

If you do not already hold a care certificate that can be evidenced as part of your initial training attendance at a one day Healthcare Assistant Workshop will have to be done.

MANDATORY TRAINING REQUIREMENTS WHICH MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO BEING ABLE TO WORK SHIFTS

Successfulapplicants will have to attend a one day Trust Induction followed by mandatory training, dependent on role appointed to, spread over several days. If appointed to Mental Health/Learning Disabilities a one week MAPA course needs to be completed unless you have done this with one of our preferred partners.
