Applications are invited for a fixed term (2 Years), part time Consultant Medical Microbiologist post in a large teaching hospital Trust. The successful applicant will join an established experienced colleague in delivering a clinical service to UHL and General Practitioners. These posts provide clinical Microbiology support to a large number of immunocompromised patients and work closely with colleagues in a wide variety of disciplines including paediatrics, obstetrics, neonatology, foetal medicine, infectious diseases, genitourinary medicine, haematology and nephrology. There will be opportunity for change and development to the current microbiology service to bring more benefits to patients, as well as teaching and research.

All applicants should have FRCPath (or evidence of equivalent training and experience) and should have either full GMC registration and should be eligible for entry on the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date.

The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust consists of three acute teaching hospitals serving the population of Leicestershire, and is fully committed to Continuing Medical Education for Consultants.
The appointment is for 0.5 WTE.

As this post is regulated by the Protection of Children Act 1999, The Criminal Justice Courts Act 2000 and / or the Care Standards Act 2000, an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Scheme check will be requested by the Trust in the event of a successful application.

This position will also be considered as a fixed term post.
