The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL), are inviting applications for Specialty Doctor positions (CT3+ Level) in Anaesthetics at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. These posts are for 1 year in the first instance renewable by mutual consent.

This post will offer you a period of supernumery induction appropriate to your previous UK experience, opportunity to develop your career and/or pursue a sub-specialty interest of your choice as well as opportunities to attend other established training courses.

The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in the UK. Our anaesthetics department provides:

• Comprehensive pre-anaesthetic assessment.
• Full anaesthetic provision for day case and inpatient surgery.
• Recovery services, including acute pain management and short term critical care.
• Full anaesthetic provision for obstetric services, including an epidural service and ante-natal assessment.
• Critical care units on all 3 sites

Post holders are provided with the equivalent of 2 PAs a week (8 hours). This time is includes allowing the post holder to; pursue a clinical interest of their choice across the whole of the three hospitals in the trust. (UHL offers all major sub-specialties with the exception of neurosurgery), to pursue an audit or research interest and to prepare for forthcoming professional exams.

You will work in a supportive environment working predominantly on dedicated specialty doctor rotas (currently 1 in 7) at the Leicester Royal Infirmary site covering obstetrics and/or intensive care with the opportunity to rotate to other sites. All specialty doctors are allocated a consultant mentor to guide their career.
