Southern Health is one of the largest Foundation Trusts in the UK, specialising in mental health, adult and child community health, learning disabilities and social care services.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join dynamic multidisciplinary teams based in the South East of Hampshire. The post is suitable for both newly qualified professionals or band 5s looking to further develop their skills.

  • Laurel Rapid Assessment Unit – Petersfield Hospital. Offering specialist Parkinson’s Disease management and a specialist falls prevention service. This role involves management of long term complex conditions.

The post provides the opportunity to gain experience working with a diverse, clinically complex caseload including the elderly and frail. You will work closely as part of the wider Multi-Disciplinary team including primary and secondary care, Adult Services, private and voluntary services.

You will work autonomously to complete Occupational Therapy assessments, setting patient centred goals and rehabilitation programmes. You will be well supported within a larger Therapy team and supervision will be provided on an informal and formal basis. You will have the opportunity to attend bi-monthly peer support meetings with other band 5 occupational therapists.

The post offers excellent CPD opportunities including in-service training on key topics relevant to your role. You will be supported to develop as a band 5 through participating in a structured preceptorship programme. You will have the opportunity to develop further professional skills through supervision and appraisals of junior staff and students and through contributing to service development within the Therapy team.

The post may be joining the highly successful Band 5 Rotation in the near future – the rotation currently covers Older Persons Mental Health (community and inpatient), inpatient physical rehabilitation and Community Therapies (physical health). There may be an opportunity to start working as an Occupational Therapy Assistant prior to the start of the rotation if you are awaiting your qualification - this can be negotiated at interview.

You should be organised and adaptable, with an enthusiasm to develop professionally. You will need to be educated to degree or diploma level in Occupational Therapy and hold HPC registration. You will need to be a car driver and have access to a car for work.
