Due to promotion and retirement the Medicine Directorate are wishing to recruit 3 Band 6 Sister’s into post. The posts advertised are a Full time, Permanent post on Ward 30 at the RVI, a Full time permanent post on Ward 15 Freeman Hospital and a 12 month secondment opportunity to cover maternity leave on ward 48 RVI. All of the above wards offer a variety of medical patients therefore you are encouraged to contact us for further details.

Key aspects of the Sisters role are: To support the Senior Sister, acting as a deputy when the Senior Sister is absent.

    • Provide effective support and leadership to both staff, patients and carers within the ward or department.
    • Act as role model, teacher and supervisor for junior staff and students.
    • Ensure systems are in place to provide the continuity of safe effective care for patients at all times.
    • Ensure the provision of safe and effective patient care.
    • Act as a deputy and effectively manage the ward nursing resource when the Senior Sister is absent.
    • Support and contribute to the development of patient care and nursing practice within the ward, contributing to Trust projects where required.
    • Support the develop of junior staff or students ensuring appropriate supervision and assessment is available.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate evidence of achievement and self- development in your current post. You will have a good understanding of professional accountability in a leadership role and have relevant post reg. experience.
