Applications are invited for a Consultant Clinical Scientist in Immunology to join our committed and enthusiastic, forward-thinking team. The Immunology Department at Leicester Royal Infirmary offers an integrated clinical and laboratory Immunology service. The Immunology Laboratory provides a comprehensive range of routine and specialist immunology assays for the diagnosis and management of autoimmunity, allergy, immunodeficiency and Haematological malignancy.

We are looking to recruit a Consultant grade Clinical Scientist in Immunology (either Band 8C or Band 8D, depending on previous experience and leadership skills) to join our dynamic department, composed of 3 Medical Consultants, 1 Consultant Clinical Scientist (this post), 2 non-Consultant grade Clinical Scientists, 2 Specialist Registrars, 1 STP, 3 Band 7 managerial staff, and a large body of scientific and support staff.

Our friendly and enthusiastic team works closely together to provide an efficient, high quality laboratory and clinical diagnostic service. We are seeking a motivated and effective member of the team who also has the capability to act independently for the provision, management and continuing development of the Clinical Immunology Laboratory service. If the applicant has the necessary leadership skills and experience to head the Laboratory Immunology service, we would encourage application for the Band 8D position (please see relevant Job Description and Person Specification).

Appointment to this post includes an attractive incentive (£15K on appointment plus £15K after 3 years service) and relocation package (terms and conditions apply).

Essential criteria: Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (Immunology) (or equivalent qualification), be registered as a Clinical Scientist with the HCPC, and have a minimum of 8 years Immunology specialist experience.
