Eating Disorders Service

BAND 2Health Care Support Worker -Full time 37.5 hours

The Eating Disorders Service is a well-established secondary service with an international reputation.

There is a large outpatient service and an inpatient unit which offers an intensive care programme, including a Day Programme for patients across the East Midlands with low weight Anorexia Nervosa.

We are seeking to recruit a Band 2 health care support worker for our inpatient unit, situated on Langley Ward at the Bennion Centre on the Glenfield Hospital Site. Patients referred for inpatient treatment are at a low weight and have a high degree of physical and psychiatric co-morbidity. Experience of working in a healthcare environment is important.

The post holder would be required to assist the qualified staff in the delivery of care to service users suffering from low weight anorexia nervosa and a range of co-morbid mental health difficulties. This would include supervision of meals, assisting in the delivery of therapeutic and practical activities and helping to maintain a safe and supportive environment on the ward.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and reliable person, with good interpersonal and team working skills. We are looking for an individual who is capable of assisting in delivering a service of the highest possible quality. The post holder would be required to work within our multi-disciplinary team, requiring the use of effective written and verbal communication skills.

The post holder would be provided with in service training and supervision.

The post holder would be required to work shifts on internal rotation.
