Solent NHS Trust has been successful in their bid to implement four new Mental Health Support Teams (MHST’s). This is in collaboration with NHS England and the Department for Education, following on from the 2017 Green Paper Transforming children and young people’s mental health provision. This is a roll out of the work to improve access to mental health care for young people set out in the NHS Long Term Plan.

MHST’s will provide mental health and emotional wellbeing support to children and young people and their families and carers through schools and colleges. Each MHST will support several schools and colleges, covering a population of around 8,000 children and young people. These posts are within the two MHST’s based in Southampton.

Each MHST will comprise of a Team Manager, two Mental Health Support TeamClinicians and Supervisors(this post), two Mental Health Support Team Practitioners and four Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHP’s) and an administrative assistant. The MHST will work within education settings to provide early intervention on mild to moderate mental health issues and provide help to staff in schools and colleges. Teams will also act as a link with local children and young people’s mental health services.

In addition to clinical work, the post holders will supervise the new EMHP’s. The EMHP’s will work under the post holders supervision, as part of a dynamic mental health team in a creative environment where evidence-based interventions, new ideas, ways of working and supporting children and young people are actively encouraged.

The Trainee EMHP’s will receive their training through the University of Southampton (UoS). The post holder will also be able to attend UoS for Supervisors training and will link with other Supervisors in current and previous waves of MHST implementation across the country. The post holder will also work closely with the Team Manager, to ensure that the team is a success.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years.
