Band 5 Staff Nurses for our in-patient medical stepdown wards on Beechwood and Clarendon Ward the Evington centre.

We are looking for newly qualified Band 5 staff nurses to join our established preceptorship programme on our medical step down wards in Leicester. We are looking for staff nurses who have an interest in medical nursing who are ready to take individual responsibility for their work and for their patients to ensure they have a positive experience and who can demonstrate care and compassion with frail older patients.

These positions are suitable for newly qualified or return to practice nurses to join our preceptorship programme.

You will be based in one of our medical in-patient wards at the Evington centre caring predominantly for frail, elderly, medically unwell patients and those recovering from a fall or fracture requiring additional hospital support before returning home. The community hospital wards manage a range of specialities including sub –acute medically unwell patients, those who have complex discharge needs & palliative patients for symptom control or ‘end of life’ care.

The wards all have a multi-disciplinary approach to patient management. Family and MDT goal setting are an integral part of the registered nurse role in all our in-patient areas. Supported by the Ward Sister and Matron, you will demonstrate and develop your professional accountability, innovative thinking and contribute to the clear vision for the in-patient nursing areas.

We offer training and personal development within the wards and at our Learning and Development centre to ensure you have the knowledge and skills to meet patient needs and complete your revalidation CPD requirements.

You will be supported through a six month programme of training to ensure you are able to meet your clinical and leadership requirements to provide safe effective care on the ward.

We are looking for nurses who share our passion and commitment for providing high quality care through sound clinical decision making in our busy in-patient wards.

In addition we offer free parking on all our sites. We offer flexible working patterns and an opportunity to work predominantly days or predominantly nights. We can clarify this at interview.

We strongly recommend that you visit one of our wards during the application process so that you understand fully the types of patients on our wards, our patient management process with the MDT, how we facilitate timely discharges and communicate this to our patients and their families.

Please contact Sophie Daveney (PA to Hospital Matron) on Mobile: 07827939385 or email sophie.daveney@leicspart.nhs.uk for further information and to arrange a visit.

We are committed to providing the best care that we can to our patients, and so some of our roles involve a Maths and English assessment. Where this is so, details will be shared with you as part of the recruitment process.

Details of our benefits, pledge and other important information about the application process, and working for us is contained in the documents linked to our advert.

For areas where our teams work to staffing rosters, rosters are set in advance at a team level and you will be joining an established roster. Your rostered shifts will be confirmed to you when arranging your start date. We will consider requests to vary working patterns in line with our flexible working policy.

To make the most of your application, we may consider successful applicants for vacancies for the same post in different locations where this is appropriate and meets our mutual requirements.

For all substantive roles the appointment of every new member of staff (excluding medical and dental staff) to a post is subject to a 6 month probationary period, details of which are in our Probation Policy.

We aim to develop a workforce that reflects our service users. To this end we actively implement equal opportunities in employment and service delivery and seek people who share our commitment. We strongly encourage applications from all sections of the community, particularly from underrepresented groups, including members of our black and minority ethnic communities. All jobs will require permission to work in the UK.

For all jobs the cost of undertaking a DBS disclosure at the required level will be met by the individual. This will be deducted from salary following commencement.

Requests from applicants to work alternative hours to those advertised may be considered.

Applicants who are currently ‘at risk’ within the local NHS, and meeting essential criteria will be given preference for interview over any other candidates who may apply for this post.
