Spectrum is the prime provider of healthcare services at HMP Full Sutton, a modern, purpose-built maximum security prison for men in category A and B, based 11 miles outside of York. We provide primary care services (GP sessions and nursing), mental health, pharmacy and medicines management and clinical and non-clinical substance misuse to the prison.

The post is varied and offers an opportunity for you to utilise your existing nursing skills within a secure environment setting. We are seeking experienced, enthusiastic, innovative registered nurses who are focused on delivering high quality patient-centred care. We will also consider newly qualified nurses with the motivation to learn more about health and justice nursing.

The ideal candidates will be expected to have a sound nursing knowledge base, excellent communication skills, an understanding of complex needs of the residents and have the ability to operate confidently within an MDT.

This post attracts a golden welcome payment of £1500 for the successful candidate

Please note that this post will require Counter Terrorism Clearance (CTC) in order to be able to work in a high security prison estate. Spectrum will support you through this process but any offers of employment are conditional upon successful receipt of this level of clearance.

On top of your basic salary, you will receive at least 27 days' holiday each year rising to 33 days after 10 years’ service (excluding bank holidays). You will also automatically become a member of the NHS pension scheme and will receive an excellent package of pension benefits which are one of the most generous and comprehensive in the UK.

If you are successful in being offered a position with Spectrum, which involves working with patients, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check.

The post holder will be expected to undertake safeguarding training (Children and Adults) appropriate to their role and adhere to policies and procedures relevant to the area they work in.
