We are looking for an experienced band 5 adult registered nurse, with strong clinical and managerial skills, enthusiasm and motivation, who is dedicated to provide visible clinical leadership to join our team as a Band 6 Deputy Ward/Departmental manager.

The department consists of two different areas. The outpatient’s area is the second busy in the UHL providing service to both children and adults. The area receives patients directly from ED and GP referrals. The work is very varied and includes emergency treatment for patients who present with cauda equina symptoms and sepsis. Wrist manipulations and some small procedures are also carried out within the department. There will also be an opportunity to prepare patients for theatre and undertake pre-assessment. You will be supported by registered nurses, advance nurse practitioners and experienced plaster technicians.

There are regular teaching opportunities for staff to attend in the department and weekly team meetings are held.

Plastering skills and fracture clinic experience is not required for this post. A full training package will be given to the right candidate with the chance to progress to a more formal orthopaedic pathway. What is essential in a candidate is excellent communication and proven organisational skills. This will be someone who enjoys working in a fast paced, ever changing environment. You will be expected to work as part of the clinical team and lead that team to deliver the highest possible standards of care whilst managing staff development and the administration work associated with managing a clinical area.

We strongly recommended you visit Fracture clinic during the application process and you will be made very welcome by the Ward Manager, Matron and the team.
