Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals is looking for a Clinical Technologist to join our team providing a comprehensive Nuclear Medicine service to the people of Newcastle Upon Tyne and Northumberland. The post involves daily patient contact and will be mainly based at the Freeman Road Hospital and on occasion at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

The Nuclear Medicine & Bone Densitometry Department is part of the Radiology Directorate. The team works in two major hospitals, Freeman Hospital and RVI and carry out around 18,000 procedures per year. Nuclear Medicine has close links with the Institute of Transplantation, Oncology department and the Great North Children’s Hospital

On each site facilities include a radiopharmacy, dual headed gamma cameras and a SPECT CT system.

For this short term contract, the successful applicant would be expected to rotate through mainly diagnostic imaging and assist in the day to day Nuclear Medicine service. You will work alongside other healthcare professionals including Scientist, Nurses, Radiologists and clerical staff to provide the very best patient care in our busy department.

For appointment at Band 6 candidates will be expected to be a team player with a flexible approach, candidates should hold a degree in Clinical Technology, Clinical Physiology or another science based subject and have appropriate experience and must be a member of the Register of Clinical Technologists.

Candidates who are completing year 3 of the Practitioner Training Program (PTP) to become a Nuclear Medicine Clinical Technologist working towards registration are encouraged to apply. Appointment in such circumstances would be at band 6 annex 21 level with a salary of 75% of Band 6.
