Midwife for Antenatal Services and Fetal Medicine

A vacancy has arisen in Antenatal Services for a band 6 midwife. The post involves working at both the Leicester Royal Infirmary and The Leicester General Hospitals. The post which is 22.5 hours is varied and involves working both in the antenatal clinic and the fetal medicine service caring for women with high risk pregnancies. Some women are high risk at the start of their pregnancies and others develop complications during their pregnancy and need additional surveillance. The post also involves seeing women with fetal abnormalities, providing non-judgemental support, information and counselling to assist women in their decisions regarding the continuation of their pregnancy.

The post holder will be required to assist the fetal medicine consultants with amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling and fetocide and care for the woman and her family before and after the procedures.

The post will also involve working with and teaching many staff groups including, midwifery students, medical students and work experience students.
