Description

CSH Surrey is Surrey’s largest and longest established NHS community services provider, delivering community services in homes, hospitals, clinics and schools since 2006. Our teams provide adult community health services in the mid and north west Surrey areas, and children’s community health services for the whole of the county.Together we serve a population of more than 1 million people. We genuinely put patients first and are proud that our dedicated teams are rated ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC for how caring they are.

We are part of the NHS, so you will receive the NHS pay, pensions, benefits and generous leave allowances, and also the Outer London ‘High Cost Allowance’ of 5%. Most our sites in North West Surrey have free parking, we provide an occupational health and wellbeing service and programme, and you can access excellent training and career development opportunities.

We provide excellent training and development opportunities, including the care certificate, apprenticeships, numeracy and literacy courses, access to the Nursing Associate programme, and a wide variety of management and leadership courses and programmes. These are available to everyone and are nationally recognised Institute of Leadership and Management courses. We offer a supportive preceptorship programme for newly qualified nurses and a well-established rotational programme for therapists. Our nurses and therapists also benefit from access to bespoke clinical skills courses, which we run in-house and also through specialist hospitals (eg tracheostomy care). Our training provision always receives high scores in our annual staff survey, as does manager support.

The community is where it’s at! Nationally, and in Surrey, the focus is on shifting care back into the community, so there’s never been a better time to work in community services! We know some people, especially newly qualified clinicians, worry about going straight into community roles because they feel they will miss out on acute hospital experience. However, our healthcare assistants, district nurses, matrons, staff nurses and newly qualified clinicians urge you to think again! They choose to work in the community because they:

  • Enjoy becoming part of people’s lives, particularly at the start and end of life, and having the time to get to know patients and their families in a way that those working in the acute sector rarely can

  • They value being part of their local communities and feel privileged to care for children and adults in their own homes

  • With the health needs of adults and children becoming more complex, today’s community clinicians are highly skilled practitioners and develop a far broader range of clinical skills and knowledge than those in acute settings

  • Community services are often nurse or therapy-led, so our nurses and therapists really grow confidence and develop excellent decision-making and influencing skills and the ability to think independently

  • Our nurses and therapists also enjoy being part of bigger, multi-disciplinary health and social care teams, in which community, acute, primary care, mental health, education and social care colleagues work together to support children and adults to live safely in the community.

So if you want to be part of a passionate, person-focused community service, apply to CSH Surrey today!
