Job summary

The National Disease Registration Service (NDRS) is an international leader in population-based disease registration services and a function within Data & Analytics, part of the Transformation Directorate of NHS England. In partnership with other teams and groups within NHS England and beyond we provide the expertise to identify, collect, collate and quality-assure detailed and rich population-level datasets for specific diseases and conditions and enable and provide expert, timely insight and evidence on these.

As a Data & Analytics Support Specialist for the NDRS you will plan, develop, deliver and maintain meaningful data visualisations based on routinely collected healthcare datasets and play a vital part in ensuring that NDRS can deliver the necessary analysis and insight to support the successful delivery of its work programme. The work you do will inform patient care and have an impact on patient outcomes.

Main duties of the job

As a Data & Analytics Support Specialist in the data projects team in NDRS, you will:

  • plan, develop, deliver and maintain meaningful data visualisations based on routinely collected healthcare datasets.
  • engage with a range of audiences, including stakeholders at NHS trusts, clinicians and commissioners, to understand their data and reporting needs and translate these into intelligent content and reports
  • present data for different audiences and purposes, and in different media including online dynamic dashboards, as appropriate
  • lead on the development of BI outputs and develop and publish dashboards and BI products for disease reporting
  • act as an operational expert for your nominated area of work, responding to external data requests as required
  • provide expertise and guidance about BI outputs and the underlying data and analyses to a range of external and internal stakeholders, including clinicians, data managers, commissioners, and researchers.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.

NHS England hold a Sponsor Licence; this means that we may be able to sponsor you providing the Home Office requirements are met. To be eligible for sponsorship through the Skilled Worker route you'll usually need to be paid the 'standard' salary rate of at least £38,700 per year, or the 'going rate' for your job, whichever is higher.
