Job summary

The Education & Training Support Administrator will provide effective and efficient administrative support for Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education (PMDE) teams in the Education and Training sub-directorate in the East of England.

The postholder will work closely with educators, trust colleagues, host placement providers, administrators, the Lead Employer and other NHSE teams to ensure that key PMDE processes and activities are carried out.

Education & Training Support Administrators will have a designated team, which they will report to, which will be one of the following:

  • Assessment & Revalidation Team
  • Programme Management Team
  • Recruitment Team

Education & Training Support Administrators will be expected to work flexibly across teams to support the delivery of specific workstreams and team functions, in line with key periods of activity and deadlines for the teams listed above.

Education & Training Support Administrators will therefore support the delivery of a comprehensive administrative service, including the recruitment and assessment of learners and ensuring that programme data is recorded in an accurate way on NHSE databases.

The postholder may be expected to carry out other appropriate delegated duties as required.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Working to support the team functions and objectives of designated team
  • Working flexibly to support other teams as directed, in order to support key periods of activity
  • To provide high quality project, service, initiative and administrative support including information and analysis.
  • To ensure that processes are accurately followed, as outlined in regional or national SOPs
  • To ensure that policy is followed to ensure the requirements of national and regional directives are met, such as the Gold Guide
  • Accurately using and updating databases and systems, such as Oriel, TIS or GMC.
  • Liaising with key internal and external stakeholders in support of Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education
  • Ability to produce clear, concise analysis and reports

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.

NHS England hold a Sponsor Licence; this means that we may be able to sponsor you providing the Home Office requirements are met. To be eligible for sponsorship through the Skilled Worker route you'll usually need to be paid the 'standard' salary rate of at least £38,700 per year, or the 'going rate' for your job, whichever is higher. Essential

  • Nationally recognised qualification (e.g. NVQ or BTEC) in business/office administration at level 3 or above / or equivalent experience
  • Formal qualification or training / intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications or can demonstrate extensive use and understanding of these applications (e.g. Word, Excel)

Knowledge and experience

Essential

  • Significant demonstrable experience of working in an administrative/support role
  • Experience of working to set protocols and procedures
  • Experience of effectively communicating routine information using clear and appropriate formats
  • Previous experience working in the NHS or training and education environment
  • Understanding and knowledge of database systems. Responsible for maintaining one or more information systems including TIS, Oriel, ePortfolio etc.
