Job summary

The Strategic Change team is part of the Strategy and Integration directorate and sits alongside the System Improvement and Support team in the East of England region.

The Strategy and Integration directorate aims to enable strategic transformation, support the development of local health and care systems, proactively support the shaping of the provider and commissioner landscape, and prioritise and support improvements in services and their delivery. Drawing on detailed knowledge of local systems, the Strategy and Integration directorate will also help shape future NHS policy and strategy.

The Strategic Change team supports systems and organisations to: deliver significant capital investment into the region; make substantial service changes;;make organisational change where necessary; and to develop plans to deliver their contribution to the NHS Long Term Plan and other key NHS policies. The team works closely with national programmes, such as the New Hospital Programme (NHP) and Frontline Digitisation (FD) to deliver improvements in estates and digital solutions.

As Strategic Change Manager, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service, supporting systems to ensure that ICB's and providers deliver agreed regional and national priorities.

Main duties of the job

Key aspects of this role will be to:

  • Coordinate and contribute to the review, assurance and approvals process for capital business cases in line with HM Treasury (HMT), Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), and NHS England (NHSE) guidance.
  • Support the assurance process for significant service reconfiguration and organisational change within the region in line with NHS England guidance.
  • To advise on process, guidance and policy for capital investment, service reconfiguration and organisational change within the East of England
  • Coordinate the approach to above within the Region and liaise across national teams
  • Provide programme support to the team and contribute to the development of the directorate
  • To build effective working relationships with key stakeholders within Trusts, national NHSE programmes and DHSC.
  • To ensure that systems, processes and information flows provide effective early warning of potential risks to service quality and partnerships and identify where intervention is required to ensure high quality outcomes.
  • To identify and share areas of best practice across the region and beyond in order to support continuous improvement and high-quality outcomes.
